Update on hazardous cladding

Share this content:

The Government have  pledged £3.5bn today to remove hazardous cladding on buildings over 18 meters high in England. As of yet, no mention of Northern Ireland and in particular Belfast.

Owners face big payments to rectify the problem, years after the Grenfell Tower debacle highlighted a lapse of fire-safety standards.

Many are trapped in flats they cannot promote or insure  until the improvements are made, and are in danger of  facing financial problems in the future.

The Government says the fund is aimed at homes up to 30 meters  high which are more likely to be at risk.
